The Hoddesdon Society's aims are:
- To encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in Hoddesdon and Broxbourne
- To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the area of the town and its surroundings.
- To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest.

RSPB Rye Meads is at risk, with the RSPB withdrawing completely from management of Rye Meads in November 2026. The RSBP currently says that at that point management of the site will be handed back to the landowner (Thames Water), and the reserve will be closed from 2 Novemeber to allow the transition to the new management. There are as yet no details of who will be managing the reserve going forward, and whether the reserve will be kept open to the public.
