2026 AGM - Thursday 3 September 7.15pm

 

We hope that as many members as possible will join us at our AGM, to be followed by a public meeting on the future of RSPB Rye Meads.

 

If you cannot attend in person but would like to join by Zoom, let us know (thehoddesdonsociety@gmail.com) and we will arrange this facility.

 

If you are interested in joining The Hoddesdon Society and would like to come along, but are not yet a member, you are very welcome - get in touch and let us know you are coming, and we can arrange your membership on the night.

 

Non members who are interested in the subject matter are all very welcome to attend and contribute.  Only members will be able to vote in the first part of the meeting when we will discuss Hoddesdon Society business.  Please get in touch and let us know you will be coming, so we make sure we have enough chairs.

Thursday 3 September 2026  at Stanboroughs Function Room, Stanboroughs Court, Conduit Lane, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire EN11 8EP

 

Please arrive at 7pm for a 7.15pm start.

 

The AGM will take place first, moving to a public meeting to discuss the future of RSPB Rye Meads.

 

The following speakers will speak:

 

  • From the RSPB:  Hannah Phillips (Area Manager Beds, Cambs & Herts) and Martin Randall (Operations Director)
  • From Thames Water: Alex Nickson (Head of Environmental Compliance and Water Quality)
  • Lewis Cocking MP (subject to his Parliamentary schedule).

 

There will then be an open discussion after the speakers have finished, at which questions can be raised from the floor.

 

We will put a limited number of questions to the individual speakers at the end of their sections.  Please submit any questions you would like us to put to them here by 1 September at the latest.  We may not be able to ask all questions submitted, but you are welcome to ask any questions in the open part of the discussion in any event.

 

We also welcome a number of local councillors. 

 

Refreshments (soft and alcoholic drinks) are available for purchase at the bar. .
